Opening with footage of a touring caravan being towed behind a car, Dick Graham interviews Major James Forsythe, a caravan enthusiast, who with his family have parked their caravan on an idyllic mid-Norfolk site. Mr Forsythe reveals his enthusiasm for this type of holiday, listing the mobility and freedom to roam, and comfort provided in modern caravans, amongst the benefits. Mrs Forsythe is seen tidying the interior revealing the open-plan layout and facilities the modern caravan contains.
Site owner, Mrs Underwood, argues the central location, peaceful surroundings and proximity to nature are just a few of the reasons why caravan enthusiasts choose to holiday at her park. In contrast, Mr John Beckett, site manager for a static-caravan site argues that renting is inexpensive and facilities include an entertainment block. He discusses the work involved in maintaining such a site.
A north Norfolk boarding house owner, a town official, and a shop owner in turn reveal their discontentment or satisfaction with this increasingly fashionable recreation. Factory workers assemble caravans, and owner, Mr Ellis explains why the caravan manufacturing industry has been able to flourish since the mid 1950s.
